On Saturday, July 17, we held a Pre-Summit online for the 20th International Students Summit on Food, Agriculture and the Environment (ISS)!
This summit has been held every year since 2001, bringing together students from all over the world at Tokyo NODAI or our global partner universities. The participating students would make presentations and have discussions on global issues related to education, food, agriculture, and environment to think about their own roles as youths for achieving the sustainable development of humanity. In 2020, due to the spread of COVID-19, the ISS was cancelled. However, this year, the ISS will make a comeback fully online.
This year’s theme is “Linking Actions, Research and Education in Agriculture Value Chains to Achieve Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability.” Under this theme, 58 students representing 27 universities from 25 countries and regions will engage in heated discussions online in September.
At the Pre-Summit, some important information to prepare for the ISS week in September was shared, and after the group announcement, the participants had a chance to get to know each other in groups. The participating students will continue team building in groups online for about two months till their discussion sessions in September.
The discussion sessions will be open to the public.
