Tokyo University of Agriculture (Tokyo NODAI) will conduct a five-year project from Dec. 2020 to Mar. 2025 to foster the next generation of leaders who will contribute to the improvement of food and nutrition in Africa, with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) .

With Tokyo NODAIʼs longstanding research project on nutrition improvement in Africa as a foundation, we will strengthen the ties with African partner universities and invigorate the bidirectional student exchange. Besides providing Japanese students the opportunities to participate in practical educational programs in Africa, we will create opportunities for African students to study the latest agricultural and nutritional science in Japan. Both students will also have opportunities to discuss related issues with students from different countries and regions.

This program consists of 1) online exchanges, 2) short-term and 3) long-term program in Japan. Our short-term program includes, as a part of its two to three-week-long program, the "International Students Summit (ISS) on Food, Agriculture and the Environment (ISS)", which provides the participants to make a presentation on their studies and activities in their respective field and discuss on the roles of young leaders with the representatives gathered from all over the world.
